Our Kindergarten class is learning how to deal with big emotions. When they are feeling overwhelmed by big emotions they should tell an adult they need a break, how we can help them or what is making them feel that way. We want to help them understand their feeling so that they will be able to learn to self-regulate. We encourage deep breathing, breaks, walks, alone time and telling adults how they feel.

1.  John Jr and Vasi saw a show about gardening.  It really sparked their interest.  John Jr asked his mom if he and Vasi could plant a garden in backyard.  She agreed and found a how to book on gardening for John Jr and Vasi.
2.  John Jr got some of his allowance money and he and Vasi took off to the store.  At the store John Jr and Vasi purchased cucumber, pepper, cantaloupe, radish and lettuce seeds.  
3.  John Jr and Vasi had to prep the ground for their garden.  They had to till the soil to a depth of about 10 inches,add fertilizer to enrich the soil, Level the garden bed, and Water the soil well and let it settle for a few days.
4. A few days passed and John Jr and Vasi were ready to plant.  They poked holes for the seeds, then placed seeds and covered dirt over seeds.  After planting , they gave a nice watering to their garden.
5.  John Jr and Vasi looked after and watered their garden daily.  A few weeks went by and there was some buds sprouting.  A few more weeks later there was fruit and vegetables starting to form.
6.. As summer was closing in, the fruit and veggies were ripe and in abundance.  John Jr and Vasi went out to the garden and picked all the fruits and vegetables.  There was so much that they gave Granny and a few neighbors some of their harvest.  John Jr mom gave him and Vasi some cut up cucumber and cantaloupe.  They really enjoyed it.

This is Lily. She’s happy, just like you. But sometimes, not all children feel safe. Sometimes, bad things happen to kids, like being hurt or feeling scared. This is called abuse.

One day, Lily noticed her friend Sam wasn’t smiling like he used to. He had a bruise on his arm and looked sad. When Lily asked if everything was okay, Sam said, "I don’t want to get in trouble."

Lily didn’t know what to do. She was worried but didn’t want to upset Sam. She thought hard and decided it was important to help. So, Lily told her teacher, "I’m worried about Sam."

The teacher listened and thanked Lily for speaking up. The grown-ups made sure Sam got help, and soon, he felt safe again.

When kids like Lily speak up, it can stop bad things from happening. Every child deserves to feel safe, loved, and happy. If you ever see something that doesn’t feel right, tell a grown-up you trust.

As the sun peeked over the horizon, casting an ethereal glow upon the bustling city, I awoke with a surge of excitement for the day that lay ahead. It was a Saturday, a day dedicated to joy, laughter, and the pursuit of knowledge.

My first adventure took me to the park, where children's laughter filled the air like a chorus of sweet melodies. I joined a group of youngsters engaged in a spirited game of tag, their faces flushed with the thrill of the chase. Laughter erupted as I stumbled and tumbled, becoming the target of their playful antics.



As the afternoon approached, I ventured into the vibrant streets, where a lively street fair was in full swing. The aroma of freshly popped popcorn tantalized my senses, and I couldn't resist indulging in a fluffy cloud of buttery goodness.

Among the many stalls, I stumbled upon a table where people were engrossed in a game of chess. Intrigued, I asked a passerby to teach me the basics. With newfound knowledge, I joined a game, my mind working feverishly as I contemplated my next move.

The day continued to unfold, filled with a delightful assortment of activities. I learned the intricate art of paper folding, creating a delicate origami crane that fluttered with grace. I discovered the joy of painting, transforming a blank canvas into a vibrant masterpiece.

As evening descended, I gathered with a group of friends for a cozy movie night. The laughter and camaraderie filled the room, making the movie all the more enjoyable. We reminisced about the day's adventures, sharing our laughter and lessons learned.

As the night drew to a close, I felt a profound sense of joy and fulfillment. The Saturday had been a perfect balance of fun and learning, a symphony of laughter and knowledge. I drifted off to sleep, my mind filled with the memories of this extraordinary day.

I was born in the historic village of Lung Yeuk Tau. The vast mountain ridges resemble a majestic dragon leisurely strolling, quietly overlooking us, the young people who grew up here.

From a young age, I was captivated by the unique buildings in the village. The Song Ling Tang Gong Hall stands solemnly, with various exquisite wood carvings and murals showcasing the long history and profound culture of the Tang family. The thick walls of the old village bear witness to our ancestors’ commitment to and protection of this tranquil home. The continuous incense in the temple evokes a strong sense of local customs.

I was fortunate to grow up in buildings like the Shik Lu and Chong Him Hall, which blend traditional Chinese features with Western architectural elements. The winding stairs and airy terraces all highlight the unique charm of this cultural fusion.

Even in today's age of towering buildings, Lung Yeuk Tau retains its rustic village charm. Villages like Wing Ning and New Walled Village still preserve their circular wall layouts, and one can occasionally catch a glimpse of ancient wells in the alleys, making it feel as if we've traveled back to ancient times.

During major festivals, we ring the heavy bronze bell in front of the familiar Tin Hau Temple, hoping for the Goddess of Heaven's blessings. The historic sound of the bell seems to tell the stories of this land.

Perhaps it is these historical buildings that nurture the cultural foundation of us, the children of Lung Yeuk Tau. We have personally experienced the unique humanistic atmosphere here since childhood; it has deeply imprinted itself in our hearts, becoming an indispensable part of us.

Lung Yeuk Tau, nestled beneath these beautiful mountains, carries a long history and accumulates rich culture. We, the young people who grew up here, will continue to defend this peaceful homeland, ensuring its brilliance shines forever.

The new Friend

Milo, a young boy who loves animals, decides to create a magical parade in his village. Kitty's forest adventure

1.  John Jr and Yuēhàn was excited for their family trip to Gettysburg battlefield.  Before packing their suitcases, John Jr and Yuēhàn looked at some history books to have a better understanding of how Gettysburg battlefield was so important.
2.  John Jr gave Yuēhàn some history about the Civil War.  The American Civil War was a war between the Union (Northern US States) and the Confederacy (Southern US States) that lasted from 1861-1865. The war was fought over disagreements about slavery, states vs. federal rights, the election of Abraham Lincoln, and the economy. 
3.  John Jr found some information on the battle of Gettysburg.  The Battle of Gettysburg was a three-day battle fought between Union and Confederate forces between July 1 and July 3, 1863, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The battle, which was won by the Union, is widely considered the Civil War's turning point, ending the Confederacy's aspirations to establish an independent nation. It was the Civil War's bloodiest battle, claiming over 50,000 combined casualties over three days.
4.  Yuēhàn found some information of the final battle and shared it with John Jr.  The Battle of Palmito Ranch took place on May 12–13, 1865, near the Rio Grande in Cameron County, Texas. The battle was fought between Confederate forces under Col. John S. “Rip” Ford and Union forces under Col. Theodore H. Barrett. The battle resulted in a Confederate victory. 
5.  John. Jr and Yuēhàn finished packing and loaded up the car.  They had a wonderful time in Gettysburg and even saw a Civil War reenactment.

On a sunny morning, brothers Ming and Wah decided to visit Lung Yeuk Tau. They heard there were many mysterious legends and histories there.

The two brothers arrived at the Old Wall and saw the ancient wall and narrow gate. Ming told Wah that this place once defended against pirate invasions.

As they walked into the village, they saw villagers preparing for the Spring and Autumn Festival. Wah excitedly said, “I want to see these traditional rituals!”

Ming took Wah to the Tin Hau Temple, where a statue of Tin Hau was enshrined. They saw villagers ringing bells to pray for safety, feeling the power of faith.

Next, they arrived at the ancient well. Wah curiously asked, “How old is this well?” Ming replied, “It’s an important water source for villagers, over a hundred years old!”

They visited the Song Ling Tang Temple and admired the beautiful wood carvings and statues. Ming told Wah it was built to honor their ancestors.

Two brothers adventures

On their first day of kindergarten, kids named after spices—Cinnamon, Ginger, Saffron, and Nutmeg—brought special lunches from their homes. When Salt said Saffron's curry looked and smelled funny, Saffron got upset. But second-grade helpers Basil and Rosemary reminded everyone, “Don’t yuck someone’s yum.” Salt said sorry, and Saffron was happy. The kids then shared stories about their favorite foods, learning to appreciate each other's lunches. From then on, everyone celebrated their different foods, making the classroom a friendly place where all cultures were valued.

Gabi is a very talented girl from Plettenberg bay. She has amazing parents, Robyn and Nick Kennedy. Se has a younger sister Sienna.  Gabi is very talented. She Goes to Plettenberg Bay primary School. Gabi does netball, hockey and ballet.
